Home School Ideas for Reading and Writing

Sad to say, this is where I say homeschool will not work.  In the 21st Century and beyond, children today needs to learn all they can.  It can never be on the merit to what they children wants to learn.  In life, we have to do things we may not want to do, but we have to do it just the same.  When homeschool parents are willing to teach their children all they can, and all their children to willingly explore more, then homeschool can work.

Education either in the classroom or at home is not a "pick and choose" system.  It is a process of precept upon precept.  It must be built on the past knowledge as the students/children goes up the educational process.  In the schools, they are called grade levels (K-12).  We hope that they school systems will prepare the students to be ready for any post-secondary education.  No matter what career a person will choose, they must be properly educated on all disciplines (Math, English [which includes reading comprehension], science, social studies [in all aspects], etc.).

Reading is the highest most important part of learning.  No matter how great a teach/instructor is in the classroom, students can only learn so much in the classroom (about 10%).  The other 90% is for the student to accomplish on his/her own.  What I have been suggesting many times is to have both a school educational system added with the parents teaching their own children.  The technology field is in every aspect of life.  No matter what, we all must use a computer & the Internet is one way or the other.  The more a child can learn at a young age will make a giant difference when he/she becomes an adult.

As this lady has just said, it is how we teach children now that will make a difference for tomorrow.  As we need to use a different source of fuel then what we get from oil many, many, many years ago, we need to use a different means of educating children for a better tomorrow.  This has to change and change now.  If we do not change for the here and now, then living in the old 19th - 20th Century, then we will not have the proper educational system for our children's future.

I cannot state this enough, the school systems cannot do this alone.  There are many, many, many reasons why this is so.  One is the cost of constantly updating the curriculum.  When the students gets the books, they are nearly out of date due to the fact it takes so long of a process to write the books, publish them, and then have them ready to hand to the students.  True, online learning is a growing aspect today, but it is still new.  it is also in a beta state, which means it is far from being that much better then a textbook.  Second, there are so much that can be taught in the classroom, and so much more for children/students to learn.  When both the school system with the addition of homeschooling, children can learn a heck of a lot more.  Just bringing tons of homework can never cut it.

When students/children are not taught right, they they loose their love of learning.  I have said this several times, "I learned more out of high school then I did in.  Why was this?  I was able to find the love of learning that I did not find throughout my schooling.  Yes, children/students needs to learn things they may not want to learn, but when the why we have to learn it come out in the right way, then the spark of wanting to learn will grow within that subject.

Blessed Be,
Brandon
