The Fringe Benefits of Failure, and the Importance of Imagination

Homeschooling Help » Blog Archive » Homeschool Graduate Attends Georgetown University for Almost Nothing

If this article does not prove that homeschool works nothing will.  This is not the only proof I have come across.  There are many like Justin.  The core concepts of what makes any student excel is 100% true motivation.  School systems far and wide cannot really achieve this, mainly they are way too many students that one school building can handle.  I am sure the main reason for schools loosing teachers is the heavy work load with hardly the pay to match.

With that many students, how can they really achieve the required teaching?  When parents do their jobs correctly and properly, children like Justin are able to achieve beyond all hopes and dreams.  Children today are the future of any nation for tomorrow.  When they can have the proper child rearing in the home, there is nothing that they cannot do.  The only limit is their own imagination.   Children like Justin will give hope to tomorrow.

Homeschool does work if the parents wants it to work.  The school system works, but the teachers cannot make it work for so many reasons.  Politics have put their dirty little hands in way to much.  Education is one of them.  If a given society supports homeschool a lot more, then the children of today can achieve just as much as Justin has done.  Once a year goes by, our children cannot get it back.  Education is very important to them in the hear and now.  Waiting to see what might happen will not do a thing.

I have stated this before, if government helps support homeschool, they will not have to build so many new school buildings, constantly have over crowded schools, and the students that do not have homeschool will be able to have one-on-one teachings from their instructors a lot more then they are today. If we all work together on the behalf of our children, then our future will be just as rewarding as Justin's life will be for him.

Woman Married to Six Men At Once

The Internet in the 21st Century and Beyond.

What is bothering me is that she was able to marry these six men, and no one knew she married them. What was the legal people doing when she married the second person? I understand laws should be obeyed and all that, but why is marrying more then one person a big issue? True the recent religious thing going on with all those married women and children is a sure thing of why one should not marry so many, but if the marriage was to make these men legal, then something needs to be done about that issue and not a marriage one. Believe me I am not defending anyone that wants to marry more then one person at a time.

This post is also to state that you cannot simply use our legal marriage system in the USA to bring anyone from another country like Ghana or anywhere else. True, these people are having a hard time, but no one country can support the whole world. So anyone comes to you online and says he/she is from Ghana, then block the user and if you can check that person as a scammer or spammer. If a stranger comes to you and say they love you without knowing who you are, then then it is most likely a lie.

What gets us Americans to fall into their trap, is what if we were living like that? Some Americans do live on the streets. Poverty is everywhere. We cannot help every single person on this Earth. We can give money to certain organizations, but not all of them. We can help in this or that, but we cannot help everywhere or everyone. What kind of life would this 32 year old woman have if she lived with these six men? That is why there are laws on this subject.

I am not writing this posting to shame the laws of this great country of ours. I am writing this to show that laws like this one is what keeps this country from destroying itself. Laws and regulations are there to serve and protect the citizens of the USA. Some laws are known to be a pain in the butt. Sometimes old laws might need to be changed or removed, but with them we still have our freedoms that we all sometimes take for granite.

Could YOU Homeschool?

This is a well written article about homeschool.  The biggest issues that I have about schools today is that they have way too many students.  The school system cannot build a new school fast enough.  With all crowdedness of schools today, what are students really learning?  What physical activities are students really getting in school?  What socialization are students getting in schools?

Basically the answers to each question is not much.  To go into detail on each question is why I am writing this posting.  To get the question that this posting is linked to, I believe that all parents can homeschool their own children.  The purpose of being a parent is to teach and raise their own children.  Sure all parents can homeschool.  To explain that homeschool is better then the school systems, let me explain.

First of all as I said, schools are way too crowded.  I have been hearing that Elementary  Schools do not have recess. Unless they are having physical education all the time, the students are not getting any physical exercise at all.  If the students are so much in learning then why are students graduating from high school not knowing how to read properly for that age level?  Illiteracy is still an all time high in the USA.  If one cannot read, how can they really learn?

In all that I have read with homeschool, the children are having higher test scores on the SAT test to get into college vs. the ones that graduate from high school.  This does not mean that students in a school system cannot get a high score.  I am simply showing that homeschool works.

Most of what students learn in schools, they forget before they start any post-secondary education.  When someone learns in the home, they are most likely to remember because most of what they learn is presented in a way so they can remember.  I could go into all they ways on remembers, but that would take forever to do so.  Each person is different.  That is why one on one education is ever so important.  In the home children gets this is all aspects of their lives including homeschool.

Even with physical education in schools, the students needs more physical activities each day.  Most of the time they are to sit up right and do nothing while their teacher lectures.  Some schools have interaction in learning in the classroom, most do not.  The only physical things they do is walk to each classroom.  When the students finally get home, they have no time to play outside. They are given tons of homework to complete for the next day.  In results to all this, children are becoming fatter then pigs.

If students are not getting the proper exercise, what socialization are they getting?  There is more to socialization then just talking and listening to others talk.  So what is going on here?  What are children turning into?  It seems to me that they are turning into lifeless puppets, with a lifeless mentality to go with it.  Education is a personal thing.  Each one of us learns differently thing the other.  No one can learn on an assembly line.

In results to all of this, the American Dream does not exist anymore if children are being trained to think or not to think in the same way.  No wonder we are loosing teachers in the classroom.  I strongly believe that the teachers that do leave do not want to be apart of a system that turns children into zombies.  So could I homeschool once I have children of my own?  DAMN right I can, and will do so.

Be Still My Soul: So You Think You're Not Smart Enough To Homeschool?

In the past I have written several postings on my views of homeschooling.  I have to say after reading this blog posting, I fully agree that anyone can homeschool.  It is true that anything worth having is not easy.  Let's face it.  School systems are not having it easy either.

From government red tape, to safety of the students are constantly being challenged, it is a wonder that teachers can educate the students at all.  If the local governments throughout the USA are getting parents to be more involved with their children, then I suggest this:  Help parents to have homeschool.  If this article is right, and I think it is right, then parents can do homeschool.

Homeschool does get parents and children more involved then ever before.  If more parents did homeschool, taxes would not be so high.  Every few years a new school must be built in order to house all the students that are constantly growing.  Right now teachers are having more students in the classroom then they can rightfully or even legally handle.  For the parents that cannot homeschool for whatever reason, then the school system will still function.  Teachers will then have less students in the classroom, and more one on one teaching will occur.

The giant issues I see with the school system is that there are way too many students.  No wonder more and more teacher stop teaching.  No one can do the job with the little pay they get.  Just lecturing to students is not teaching them.  If that is the case a school system can have less classrooms and show a video to a larger audience.  To teach, questions much be asked.  In today's classroom, there is no way a teacher can answer everyone.

With homeschool, a parent or parents can answer questions without wasting most of the day.  As in this blog posting that I am writing about (link at the bottom), sometimes it does take time to find the answers.  The secret is knowing how to find it.  That is one thing students in my schools systems do not learn how to do, look things up.  Teachers do not have the time to give their students to search for things.  Sometimes searching for things can take several hours, even online.  Proper research is the most important aspect in learning.  Find one scientist that does not do research.  Find anyone in any profession that does not do research.

With homeschool, students/children are able to have the time to learn things that most if not all school systems cannot teach due to the very strict time limit in the classrooms.  In that strict environment, how much physical activities are the students getting?  If recess has been taken out of Elementary Schools, then I say not much if any.  When the students get home, they have tons and tons of homework to do.  They hardly do any physical activities at all.  In all that work, students today are still graduating from high school not learning how to read properly if at all.

What are students really learning in school systems today?  If students cannot read properly, then it seems not much.  If the government helps up the parents that want to homeschool their own children, then school systems can do a lot more in rightfully educating students.  How things were done in the early 20th Century is a lot different then how things should be done in the early 21st Century and beyond.  We must all realize this in not only education, but every aspect of our lives.

Censorship Vs. Protection: A Code of Conduct for Bloggers?

Here is how I look at it:  Know your viewers.  The Code of Conduct should be a common sense standard.   If you blog or whatever is online is for the majority, children, then you would not have anything pornographic or and profanity in it, outside links included.  Also it is important to please your audience, so they will want to come back to your creation that you have worked hard on.

For the protection of copyrighted materials, if you are going to use someone else's stuff, give credit where credit is due.  In my blogs, I use a lot of videos from YouTube.  I know that I can use then because each and every video on YouTube has an "embedded link."  On each YouTube video has a water mark saying where it came from.  So does picture sites like http://www.photobucket.com.  I like using embedded codes instead of having to download them to my computer then uploading them to my blogs.

If one is going to create a blog, website, or whatever online, then it should be created by your own work.  When I use videos on my blog postings, I do it to enhance my work not to create my work.  I use the videos and photos to help tell what I want get across to my audience.  With today's web design, text a lone will not create a bigger audience.  If you ever see a website that has text only, then you might be looking at an ancient website or a very poor web designer.

One can design things online without having to violate any copyright laws and present it in a respectable and professional manner.  If you are not going to use embedded code, then always give credit where credit is due.  Show respect while using things online.  Even if you have permission to use it, all ways show respect to the creator by linking to the website it came from.

Possible Home School Disadvantages

Either this author is an idiot or hates home school in general.  All that was said is a bunch of cow cookies.  Parents do their homework before they start home school.  If this fool would read some of the home school blogs, there are a lot of stuff mentioned on this fact.

In schools today, there are no such thing a recess.  The only activities children get in the classroom is listening to the instructor talk with hardly any interaction.  There are hardly any social skills being taught in schools today.  When home school children take the SAT test, they make higher scores then ones from public or private schools.  Home school children learn more because of the great interaction they have with all sorts of activities.

It is true that not all parents and even children are cut out for home school, but the one that are in it, come out better then students in the classroom.  This bashing on home school is a load of horse hockey.  We need to stop the hate and work together for all.

Facebook reaches safety plan with states | Between the Lines | ZDNet.com

What is being done is great and all, but the only thing that will protect children from things they are not suppose to see online is parental guidance.  If parents cannot be with their children online, then the children should not be online.

I think I remember a television commercial showing about children being online without parental guidance.  The commercial shown a parent letting their children loose in a public dark alley alone.  Being home on a private computer does not protect children.  There is no real difference from allowing a child to roam the streets dark alley or not verses being online by themselves.

Even though I support all that is being done to protect children online, all that is being done and will be done is a temporary solution at best.  In the long run, it will not slow down or truly protect children online.  In time these predators will find a hole to go through and they will once again attack children online.

From what I have heard on a news program, it is very hard to catch these predators online.  They come from all walks of live and can get online on any computer that is connected to the Internet.  Since there are more and more public access to the Internet, then it will make it harder and harder to pinpoint where these child predators are coming from.

To my way of thinking, children should not be online at all, even with parental guidance.  Most parents today do not know enough about the Internet to work within it.  How can they truly protect their children when they are online?  If this issue of safety is getting worse, then it might be simpler to keep children off line completely.  There not that much online for them anyhow.  The Internet is for adults to begin with and should be used by adults.

Air Pollution Impedes Bees' Ability to Find Flowers - washingtonpost.com

I am not the one to degrade technology, but at the same time we all have to use the technologies we have without hurting all live or Earth.  The honeybees are very important aspect of all life on earth.  I am sure that all life on Earth has they important part to play.

All the information that is out there in saving our planet from pollution, is not all that correct.  Instead of using the truth and nothing but the truth, they use propaganda to stimulate our emotions.  There is nothing wrong in feelings, but one has to be careful in using someone else's emotions to get them to do something.

When I go out of my way to stress a point like this one, I do all that I can to NOT violate the freewill of my readers or listeners when I am speaking verbally.  We all must freely take care of life around us, so that all can live as we should on Earth.

This video says it all.  We must take care of our planet.  All other forms are taking care of it, why are human beings not doing this as much as the rest of life?  From what I see of how others live there life as a whole, I strongly believe that most are just way too comfortable with their luxuries to stop and see reality.  "As long as it does not effect them, why get up and do for others."

That is why we are having so much trouble in the United States of America.  No one wants to do their part for society as a whole.  We want a fact quick solution to everything.  That is not reality folks.  We all must live the life that is given to us no matter what the cost.  When we life our lives within our beautiful planet, we can take care of it on a natural basis, then having so many come unto the media and drill us all of the possible dangers of loosing what keeps us alive.

Mother's Day is approaching.  I am sure that we all have different reasons and ways to show respect of our own others.  The reason why we do this every year is to show our thanks for what our mothers have done for us all.  They have done everything in their power to provide for us and protect us.  Mother Earth has done the same thing.  As you celebrate Mother's Day this year, make a place in your heart for Earth Goddess.  In all faith's and traditions, she goes by many names.  For me it is Isis.  She has been very special to me and my life.
