This part of humanity's history is gone. Today we have our own marvels, the technical age. We can do things with our technologies that has bewildered the beginning of the computer age, in 1980. We have surpassed all limitations. Things are constantly reaching further as the days goes by. We are able to communicate around the world in real time in ways that we could ever hope to do when the Internet first came to be.
Even though the ancient past was a wonderful era to learn about, right here and now has it own wonders. We can travel further and wide then anyone could in ancient past. Today with the high gas prices all over the world, that is being challenged. I do not look at it in a worse case scenario, but in "growing pains" as we crossover from our own past way of doing things to the near future.
Look at it this way: We do more communication online, then we do mailing a letter. That is why the postage stamp is higher then it use to be. Virtual realities in 3-D like SecondLife, allows us to communicate in real time and in real space. Business and other aspects of life is being done right in SecondLife. When we are inworld, we can do just about anything as we could do in our day-to-day lives. A lot have called this Real Life or RL, but I say that SecondLife or SL is just real. SL is not as perfect, but though, what life experience is perfect?
Life is what you make out of it, either in a conventional life (the one we were all born in), or a virtual world (SecondLife or any other means online). If many business from FL can make a lot of money in SL, then I say it is just as real and important. The question that may needs to be ask is what is reality? What makes us alive? If you ever watched Star Trek: The Next Generation, this question was put to the test on the android, Data. If was proven that he was just as much alive as the rest of the human flesh beings.
Just remember, technology is just a tool. It is by know means a substitute of human life. The human equation is still alive as it was in ancient times. What is important, and what I am getting at in this posting is that what makes us who we really are is not flesh and bones, but how we think. A good example of this is by looking at one man: Stephen Hawking. This man is a genius many times over, but his physical body has Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). This illness has not stopped him from being who he is and what he has done. So it is possible for anyone to be a virtual character in SecondLife and succeed in all leaps and bonds.
Even though we have not yet fully understand how ancient humans designed all the wonders that have been left for us to marvel at, we can still use our own abilities to create something just as wonderful. It all starts with the human mind. The only limit is our own imagination. Now go out and explore your own self and create the wonders that only you can do and the team you may be working with. The future is in the hands of our own creativity.
Blessed Be to Isis and you,
